SRINAGAR, June 26: Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) vice president, Omar Abdullah, today said that peace won’t return to Jammu and Kashmir as long as Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) was in power.

“Peace won’t return as long as they are here and militancy is again seen in the areas where the Government was thinking to remove AFSPA in 2014 as militancy was wiped out from those areas,” he said.
Omar said that the militancy has now spread to Poonch and Rajouri as well. “You won’t find any area in Kashmir including Srinagar where militancy isn’t seen today and even the recent incidents in Rajouri and Poonch prove that militancy has again emerged where there was no militancy and it won’t be wiped out as long as they are here,” he added.
He said that the BJP will have to wait till 2024 elections to find whether Patna opposition meeting was a photo ops or not.
The junior Abdullah said that if the Home Minister of India- considered as the second powerful leader in India has reacted over the meeting, it clearly shows the importance of the meeting.
While reacting over the boycott decision in the last Panchayat elections, Omar said that the NC will participate in all coming elections and will go for victory.
He demanded that the Pulwama incident should be investigated as it is evident it has happened as Imam won’t lie.
“It has happened in two Masjids not only in one and the Government should investigate the matter and take strict action against the involved persons,” he added.
