JAMMU, Feb 10: Government today said that there was no proposal to construct flyover from KC Chowk to Janipur via Ambphalla and Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo.
In a written reply to the question of BJP MLA from Jammu West Sat Paul Sharma, the R&B Minister Naeem Akhtar said that there was no flyover proposed to be taken up by J&K ERA from KC Chowk to Janipur via Ambphalla.
However, a Detailed Project Report of B C Road flyover for a length of one kilometer was framed through consultants in the year 2009 and the tenders were invited.
“Due to the decision of the Government taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister on April 13, 2010, it was decided to first take up the work of widening of BC Road to 8 lane specifications”, the Minister said.
Consequently, DPR was prepared for 8-lane widening project which involved sizeable acquisition of land measuring 53 kanals and 9 marlas besides this entailed huge resettlement and impacted business avenues for the established unit.
“It was not possible to complete the envisaged project by October 31, 2012, the loan closing date so in the given backdrop the project was deferred”, the Minister informed the House.
“Similarly, there is no proposal to construct flyover from Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo Bohri as on date”, the Minister further said.
However, Naeem Akhtar said that ERA will prepare the Summary Appraisal Report for flyover from Bikram Chowk to Green Belt crossing and take up the case with the ADB for including of this sub-project if possible in second tranche of ADB Loan-II or any of the subsequent tranches.
