REASI, May 20: Maintaining that there would be no relaxation exercise against separatists, Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh today said that unlike past no long rope will be given to them and appropriate action under the law of land will be taken against the traitors.
“Present Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi follows the policy of clarity, conviction and consistency and therefore these three Cs will make it sure that whatever initiative has been taken in this case against separatists, will be brought to logical conclusion,” he said while talking to a group of media persons, in response to a query on the reports of National Investigating Agency (NIA) registering Preliminary Enquiry (PE) against  separatist leaders in Kashmir, who were caught on  camera confessing of receiving illegal money from abroad to feed trouble in the Valley.
The Union Minister stressed that whatever action is appropriate under the law of land, will be taken against separatists and nothing should go out directly or indirectly that there is premium on anti-India activism and anti-India intellectualism. “This is something that not only Government but the entire nation as whole has awaken to the fact that lot much of long rope was earlier given to these separatists and now enough is enough,” he said.
Admitting that there has always been series of evidences that separatists in Kashmir were being funded and promoted by Pakistan, Dr Singh said that it was for the first time that the Government has decided to proceed ahead with decisive action against this protected face of militancy and credit for the same should be given to the present regime.
In response to another query that why no action was earlier taken despite knowledge of the fact that militancy and turmoil in Kashmir were  being funded from abroad, the Union Minister said that the incumbent Government was in power for the last three years only and undoubtedly the issue raises a question mark on priorities of then regimes. “As far as the incumbent Government is concerned, people should remain assured that this regime has the capacity, commitment and courage to take appropriate action,” he maintained.
In reference to the separatists’ threat of filing defamation case against the media expose, Dr Jitendra Singh accused the former of adopting double standards as per their convenience.
“Now when these separatists are caught in dock after the expose, they are seeking refuge under Indian Constitution and when they need to promote their political agenda, they raise bogies of not subscribing to the same Constitution and this itself should be an eye opener for people in Kashmir,” he explained and added that these separatists were also enjoying all privileges and provisions under Indian Constitution.
Later, while addressing locals at Dera Baba Banda Bahadur in Reasi district, where he inaugurated newly constructed small houses for landslide victims of 2014, the Union Minister stressed that development in Jammu and other parts of the State should not allowed to be suffered because of terrorism in Valley. “Instead, we should go for more development here so that a message goes to people in Kashmir and they question their leaders the reason of depriving them from growth and progress,” he explained.
Lauding the Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC), which funded the newly constructed houses for the landslide victims, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the entire nation was concerned about J&K and its people. He hoped that other business bodies and chambers of commerce would follow the path shown by IMC.
MoS Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda, who is also MLA Reasi, also spoke on the occasion and drew attention towards some local issues and demands. He particularly demanded construction of Kanjli road from Bhabbar to Jagti.
IMC president Prem Narayan, who accompanied Dr Jitendra Singh, also spoke on the occasion.
