No reports of damage as quake hits Delhi

NEW DELHI :  No damage to life or property was reported due to tremors in the national capital following a quake measuring 7.1 hit Nepal today. People were seen rushing out of their houses in various parts of Delhi after buildings shook for some time. According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official, there was no disturbance in metro services though they were halted for a brief period as a precautionary measure. They said no reports of damage to tracks or any other Metro property were received. Delhi Police and Fire Service officials also did not receive any report of damage to property though all emergency services have been alerted. A quake of 7.1 on Richter scale hit Delhi. It was epicentered at 27.6 degrees north latitude and 86 degrees east longitude in Nepal. Its focal depth was 18 km, the IMD statement said. Delhi was shaken by the April 25 quake when tremors brought major devastation in Nepal. (AGENCIES)
