JAMMU, July 16: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) in a meeting at New Delhi, today stated that displaced KP community is not ready to resettle at previous locations or the clusters, but are for separate one place settlement in the Kashmir Valley.
Kundan Kashmiri, president KPC while reacting the statements of BJP leaders, Governor of the State and others about return and re-settlement of displaced KPs at previous locations or various / colonies in the Valley, stated that KPs are not in general enthusiastic with their return proposals, as it is a sensitive issue related to future of the community and its existence.
He said KPs will at no cost lead a life of nomads, go after job hunting, hankering after relief and doles to become soft target for militants and suffer humiliation of fundamentalist Muslims in the Valley.
He, while taking on Government said the community has lost all trust and faith in powers that be. He said those talking of community’s rehabilitation should first explain that why the State Government even the present administration of Governor deprived a KP youth of Government job who has performed a bravery in his childhood by saving a family from the terrorists. The boy who was given Geeta Chopra Award by President of India is for last over one decade making rounds of Civil Secretariat but to no avail. His file has been rejected on the plea that this will become a precedence while the members of other community on the basis of the same award were selected for Government service. Kashmiri asked can community return to Valley under such circumstances where, not only members of majority community, but also entire administrative set up is against them.
