SRINAGAR, May 10: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that no Sainik Colony is being established in Kashmir and these are only rumors.
Speaking to a gathering after inaugurating a Bookstore-cum-Coffee Cafe at Nehru Park in Srinagar this afternoon Mehbooba said: “You shouldn’t pay heed to rumors; these rumors would be either on Facebook or newspapers, if you have any doubt, call me directly and enquire from me. Ask me if this is true or not? I don’t lie. Neither my father, nor me or anyone from my party speak lie. Any of my party man who loves party won’t lie”.
Chief Minister said that her Government has not discussed the issue of Sainik Colony at all. “You tell me directly whether it is true that Sainik colonies are being established? I will tell you myself. It is absolutely wrong and this has not been discussed to this date”, she said.
Mehbooba said that process of Sainik Colony was started when Omar Abdullah was Chief Minister. “This process for the first time began when Omar was in the power and first meeting in this regard was held that time wherein it was said that the ex-servicemen of J&K should be allotted land. He also had that time given direction that these Sainiks should be given place somewhere to reside. Since then no decision was taken in this regard”, she said.
Chief Minister said that in last meeting Army was told that no land is available in Srinagar and they should look for land. “Last meeting in this regard was held with Governor but I didn’t attend because I was unwell. It was decided that since there is no available land in Srinagar the Army was asked to look for land but the decision of land allocation was not taken. This is what reality is”, she said.
Mehbooba said that only State subjects can apply on Jammu and Kashmir quota for admission in Medical Colleges of the State.”Today, the NEET decision came. That the exam is to be conducted but only State-subjects could appear in it and students from outside cannot appear in our quota. What happens by creating misunderstanding”, she said.
