SRINAGAR, Apr 27: While assuring safety for tourists, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, today said there are no security concerns in Gulmarg.
Speaking with reporters after reviewing security arrangements and safety measures at the world-famous tourist resort, the SSP said the security forces are alert and prepared to handle any contingencies.
“There are no security concerns in Gulmarg, and in case we are informed of any, we will address all such loopholes,” he said.
The SSP added that one of the main attractions for tourists in Gulmarg is the Gondola, which witnesses a daily footfall of 3,000-5,000 visitors.

He said that armed personnel are deployed wherever tourists go to ensure their safety, emphasizing that today’s review was not linked to the recent incident in Pahalgam.
The SSP claimed that security deployment has always been in place in Gulmarg, but given the heightened concerns, a comprehensive review was conducted.
“The review focused on crowd management, fire safety – including contingency plans in case of a fire – and rescue measures during power outages on the Gondola. We have also identified the skill sets needed for our personnel. Overall, it is satisfactory and the forces are alert,” he said.
Regarding trekking activities, which were barred following the recent attack, the SSP said that trekking has now been regulated.
“In case someone wants to go for trekking, they must inform the police so that necessary security measures can be put in place. It has not been banned; it is simply regulated to ensure safety,” he added.
