SRINAGAR, June 6: Senior State Congress leader and Minister for Medical Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today targeted Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for its alleged campaign in misleading people on Self Rule.
Addressing workers at Party Headquarters, on the occasion of some youths of downtown Srinagar joining the Congress party, the senior Congress leader claimed that Self Rule and any other formula put forth by others are not possible under Indian Constitution.
The senior Congress leaders said that all the mainstream political parties have taken an oath under Indian Constitution and it is the constitutional and moral right of all the leaders to safeguard Indian Constitution.
Without naming National Conference, the senior Congress leader also said that since 1947 political parties are deceiving people for their petty political gains. “We have seen political parties and various leaders misleading people on Kashmir problem. They are giving their own formulas to mislead people for their electoral gains,” he said.
He also said that Congress is the lone party in the State, which has never deceived masses in the name of Kashmir issue. “Our pro people politics is being liked by the people. The party is becoming stronger in all the regions of the State. The youth are joining the party after realizing that Congress is the lone party which has strong existence in all the three regions of the State,” he said.
Without naming any Congress leader, after number of senior Congress leaders have projected Senior Congress leader and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Ministerial candidate of the Congress party in the next assembly elections in the state, Taj Mohiuddin said that Parliamentary Board, Legislative Party and Party High command will decide the next Chief Ministerial candidate of the party.
He said that a Coalition Government era has started in the states and at Centre also. “There is a possibility of future Coalition Government. The Congress high command will take a decision at an appropriate time,” he said.
Congress party, district president Srinagar, Abdul Gani Khan on the occasion said that Congress party has always sacrifices power for the welfare of the people. “We these sacrifices people are extending their support to Congress party,” he said.
The party leaders welcomed the new entrants in the party and expressed the hope that their joining will help to strengthen the party in the next elections.
