SRINAGAR, May 27: Admitting that there are shelter sheds for Special Police Officers (SPOs) and Personal Security Officers (PSOs), performing their duties with Ministers, Legislators and other dignitaries in Jammu Secretariat, Minister Incharge Home Mehbooba Mufti said one such has been constructed in he Assembly compound at Srinagar for them.
In a written reply to a question by Kuldeep Raj, the Home Minister said due to security reasons, security personnel deployed with Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and other dignitaries are not allowed to enter the Secretariat premises.
However, for the benefit of these security personnel, the Estates Department has constructed a Driver-cum-PSOs shed in the Assembly compound, Srinagar.
But, due to shortage of space, no such facility could be created for the security personnel at Jammu, the reply said.
Mr Raj wanted to know the steps contemplated for construction of shed/shelters for the security personnel performing their duties in Secretariat premises to mitigate their problems being faced by them in their regard, especially during the bad weather conditions in winter.
