NEW DELHI, Apr 12 : There is no shortage of essential supplies following lockdown in Jammu & Kashmir and while the facility of Air Cargo flight has been, like Northeast, made available as and when required, till yesterday over 12,000 truck loads of essential supplies had crossed over by road from the Lakhanpur entry point since the inter-state transport of essential goods has been permitted despite lockdown.
This was disclosed here today by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh during a video-conference meeting with the top brass of J&K BJP leadership including the Union Territory President Ravinder Raina, General Secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul, UT Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi, former MLC Vikram Randhawa, Arvind Gupta, Jaidev Rajwal and others.
Giving an update in his introductory remarks, Dr Jitendra Singh said that while Ladakh was settling down after the initial spurt and Kargil was on the verge of becoming Coronavirus-free, in Jammu & Kashmir, the three Districts of Rajouri, Udhampur and Bandipora had caused concern. However, while Rajouri was now, by and large, settled, Udhampur and Bandipora were under strict surveillance.
As of today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, in Jammu district the Bhatindi area and part of Satwari area had been sealed.
Dr Jitendra Singh lauded the liberal assistance and contribution made by the BJP Karya Kartas during the last three weeks of the Corona crisis. He also appreciated the manner in which the BJP leaders were publicly honouring the Corona warriors and also coordinating with the administration with perfect harmony.
He said, the inputs offered by civil society and activists were important and were taken very seriously by the administration because this helped in improving services to the needy.
Ravinder Raina drew attention to the issue of UP labourers stranded in Rajouri and the urgency to ensure movement of migrant nomads including Gujjars and Bakarwals along with their cattle and animals. Ashok Kaul raised the issue of transport of newly grown strawberry fruit from R S Pura and other areas and smooth delivery of LPG cylinders. Yudhvir Sethi suggested an increase in the quantity of rice in the ration delivered in certain pockets and the Ladakhi students stranded in Jammu. Vikram Randhawa sought certain clarifications about PM CARES depositing procedure.
All these issues were immediately taken up with respective Deputy Commissioners including Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri and the concerned officers, and promptly addressed. While strawberry has been included in the essential items and the brick-kiln labourers of Rajouri also included in the essential supply, the rice content in the ration kit will be increased wherever the request comes from.
Later in the evening, a detailed account of the issues discussed and their redressal was reported to Center as well as to the J&K UT BJP leadership.
