No stones, but food for troops

The scene outside Sunjuwan Military Station, the site of terror attack in Jammu, was completely different than what generally happens during such encounters in Kashmir.
Large number of people during last two days turned up outside Sunjuwan Military Station, albeit at reasonable distance to ensure that Army movement is not hampered, and served food, water and other items to the troops, who were engaged in fighting the dreaded militants.
In Kashmir, it has been observed on a number of occasions, that people turned up at the encounter site and subject security forces to stone pelting.
The people hadn’t only come up with food, water and other eatables but also repeatedly chanted slogans like `Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and `Indian Army Zindabad’ to boost morale of the troops, who kept on moving in and out of Sunjuwan Military Station along with weaponry and equipments to eliminate the militants and save the civilians inside the family quarters.
Although, the civilians didn’t donned in olive but they equally cooperated in the operation shoulder to shoulder by maintaining calm and extending a helping hand.
“We are nationalist forces and the security personnel by putting their lives at risk, are fighting for our security,” said Sham Gupta, a local shopkeeper, serving food at the encounter site. He added: “we don’t believe in pelting stones at our own men but instead cooperating and assisting in whatever way we can so that our brave soldiers eliminate the terrorists at the earliest.”
“Our jawans are fighting for nation’s pride and we have to stand tall and by their side in this moment,” another civilian, Ramesh Kumar, said near the site of gunbattle.
The locals had arranged the food from the ‘dhabas’ at the Bus Stand and the Railway Station after it got finished at the stalls, to serve the Army personnel.
