The Janta party president stated that it was Jawaharlal Lal Nehru who made the announcement of plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. But he had never discussed the announcement in the Cabinet. “It was never binding to hold plebiscite in the State. This should be understood by the people in Kashmir,” said Swamy.

He said scams and scandals like 2G Spectrum, Coalgate, Commonwealth Games and Indian Premier League (IPL) have tarnished the image of the Coalition Government at the centre.
On the IPL controversy, Swamy demanded stern punishment for those involved in the spot-fixing scandal. He also said IPL should be allowed to remain as a sport and that people with no connection with cricket should be kept away from the administration of the game.
