Srinagar, June 6: Gover-nment today said there is no exemption available for Basmati being exported to Punjab nor is any proposal under consideration as ‘it will adversely affect the local rice seller units’.
In a written reply to a question of Kuldeep Raj in Lower House, Minister Incharge Finance stated that as per entry No. 34 of Schedule A to notification SRO 167, paddy is already under zero rated categories.
“The continuation of entry is reviewed annually by the Government and presently Vide SRO 163, the item has been kept in 0% rate category up to 31.03.2017,” he said.
“Further vide SRO 83 dated 24-03-2008, Basmati rice, being sold outside the State, is also exempted from payment of toll”, he stated.
