Rajouri, Sept 7: On the directions of the District Election Officer (DEO), Abhishek Sharma, a meeting of Zonal and Sectoral Officers was chaired by Nodal Officer Law & Order Rajouri, Rajiv Khajuria, to review the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
During the meeting, he issued a series of directives to ensure smooth and efficient election management. Key points discussed included the identification of routes for polling parties, compliance with Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and the importance of conducting mock polls to ensure readiness.
Officers were instructed to submit 02-hourly reports on Election day and ensure thorough checks of Polling Officer (PO) diaries and necessary formats. They were also tasked with preparing and submitting detailed roadmaps and sketches of polling arrangements.
Nodal Officer Law & Order emphasized the need for widespread publicity of the voter helpline to assist the public and identifying shadow areas for improved election monitoring. He urged all officers to work impartially and ensure that duty slips are clearly pasted on official vehicles for easy identification.
Additional instructions included the physical verification of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), proper guidance for polling teams, and the strict enforcement of a no-campaigning zone within 200 metres of polling stations, particularly with regard to the distribution of voter slips. Furthermore, officers were directed to organize EVM demonstrations to raise public awareness and conduct frequent visits to polling stations to ensure preparedness.
The meeting was attended by Deputy DEO Shakeel Malik, Nodal Officer Control Room Sandeep Sharma, Nodal Officer MCMC Ashiq Rafiq Malik as well as other district and sectoral officers.
