Non bailable warrants against MLA

JAMMU, Nov 3: Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu, S R Gandhi has issued non-bailable arrest warrants to be executed through IGP Jammu against former Minister of State and presently MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, Abdul Subhan, son of Mohammadu Malik, Ghulam Ahmed Wani, son of Khizarjoo Wani, Abdul Karmin Wani, son of Ghulam Ahmed Wani, all the residents of Doda.
These non-bailable arrest warrants were issued by the Court for securing their presence in a case registered by Police Station Doda on July 12, 1993 under Section 6 Forest Act.
According to case, the Range Officer Marmat Forest Range approached Superintendent of Police, Doda with the complaint that the Block Officer Behota has reported that about 300 labourers of SFC contractors (accused persons) entered in compartments No 31, 35, 37/Marmat and started illegal cutting of unmarked up-rooted trees as well fresh felling damaged in these compartments and caused extensive damage to the forest wealth.
The Range Officer also requested to provide police force to field staff of Marmat Range to stop this illegal action by the SFC contractors. Upon this complaint Police Station Doda registered FIR No 77/1993 under Section 6 of the Forest Act.
After completion of investigation, police presented challan against 11 accused including MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, his father Ghulam Ahmed Wani and brother Abdul Karim Wani (NC activist) in the Court of CJM Doda and the case was subsequently transferred by the State High Court in the court of CJM Jammu for trial.
As the high-profile accused failed to cause appearance before the Court, CJM Jammu issued non-bailable warrants for securing the presence of MLA Doda and others on next date of hearing.
