Non camp leaders launch unity move among Pandits

JAMMU, May 6: Emphasizing the need for unified action under one command to steer the community in the present turbulent times, the speakers at one day All Displaced KP Non Camp Welfare Union convention gave a clarion call to community leadership to come on a single platform.
Almost all speakers were of the firm opinion that unified action under one command was need of the hour to overcome the present challenges facing the community and the leadership was urged to take an initiative in this regard. The speakers were also of the opinion that the community on the ground was one so far the issues and problems faced by it are concerned but it is the leadership, which needs to be united.
The meeting resolved that unity efforts will be intensified in near future to defeat the nefarious designs of anti community elements which are hell bent to harm the common cause.
Renowned physician and author Dr K L Choudhary was the Chief Guest on the occasion and prominent among the others who attended the convention included Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president P K , H L Chatta, general secretary, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), Virender Raina spokesperson, Joint KP Forum and Anand Swami Pran Nath Bhat Garib (Bhai Ji).
Addressing the convention, D N Kissu said that the most important issue before the Kashmiri Pandit community was that of unity amongst its leadership. There is a need to frame an Apex Body of all the parties and to make a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) for the betterment of the community. He appealed to all the leaders of the community to come on one platform, which will send a signal to the Government that Pandits are united for their cause.
He while highlighting the problems demanded immediate allotment of flats to non camp people at Jagti, constitution of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Board, implementation of PM’s employment package in toto by removing draconian pre-conditions, one time package to over-aged youth, enhancement of cash relief and terming distress sale null and void.
Dr K L Choudhary said that time has come when KP leaders should shed their egos in the interest of the community. He while lauding the efforts made by Non Camp Union in this regard assured full cooperation to it. “We are approaching challenging times and the need of the hour is to speak in one voice’’, he added.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said that the issues of livelihood and settlement are separate and can’t be clubbed together. It is the constitutional obligation of the Government to take care of the day today needs of the community, he added.
H L Chatta, while making a dig at Government said it is creating confusion in the community by sponsoring stooges and time has come to speak in one voice.
Prof G L Kaul chief advisor non Camp Union accused the Government of its total failure in settling the demands of displaced Pandits.
P L Sudeshi, president Non Camp proposed the vote of thanks. Among others H N Jattu, R L Raina, president Durganagar Welfare Committee, N N Dhar, B N Abilash, K L Dhar, Pintoo Ji, Sanjay Koul, C L Koul, C L Zutshi and  P N Shad were also present.
