JAMMU, Dec 6: Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of Ajit Singh, Forum chairman.
The protesters raised the issue of pay anomaly and quoted an order of the government to claim the same.
They said that pay anomaly is there because the effect is being given prospectively, which means form the date of order whereas, the effect should have been given from the year 1996 when fifth pay commission was implemented throughout the State but only Police Department was left out.
They claimed that some of the cops have even expired but the surviving strugglers should be given the benefits.
Demand of medical allowance at par with that of central government was also raised during the protest and the Forum members stated that they get medical allowance of Rs. 300 only while their counterparts at Centre get Rs. 1000 in this regard.
Another demand raised was of 10 per cent reservation for the children of police personnel in professional colleges and in recruitments.
The protesters also said that employees who retired from the last six months have not received their emoluments yet and demanded for the release of the same.
