JAMMU, Mar 6: Non-gazetted police pensioners took out a rally to project their demands.
Amid slogans in favour of their issues, large number of non-gazetted police pensioners assembled at Bikram Chowk under the banner of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum and took out a protest rally to Indira Chowk. Large contingent of police personnel were deputed, which stopped the protesters at Indira Chowk.
While speaking, Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Forum said that the Government order regarding pay anomaly was released but the matter remained pending before pay anomaly committee. “Many police personnel retired from service. Government order showed pay anomaly effect only prospectively and benefit has been denied to such employees who retired during this period. Already two reports are submitted regarding pay anomaly. Court order is also given in our favour. It is disappointing that again third pay anomaly committee will be appointed which is merely time killing”, Singh added.
He stated that it is disturbing that the pay anomaly problem is as it is, adding that there is no change in this and the change made in latest order is same as it was.
“The junior constable, when he comes in time bound their grade pay comes to Rs 2400 whereas the SgCt when comes to time bound gets Rs 2300. This is injustice with SgCt”, he stated.
Despite the orders issued from time to time, the retirees are still deprived of the benefits announced till date, Singh said.
He appealed to the Government to act on the issues highlighted and take necessary steps for the benefit of retirees who are on the roads to get their own rights and dues by protesting for their cause.
