JAMMU, May 21: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today declared that no one will be allowed to create disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir as he pledged to eliminate terrorism and its ecosystem in the Union Territory.
In his pledge on Anti-Terrorism Day, Sinha also called for efforts to demolish motivated propaganda being carried out from across the border.
He had a special message for youth saying they should isolate those giving shelter and support to the enemy of humanity.
“Terrorism is the gravest threat to peace and prosperity. On Anti-Terrorism Day, let us resolve to eliminate terrorism and its ecosystem,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
In a strong worded message to the militants and their supporters, Sinha reaffirmed commitment to uphold peace and harmony and defeat the forces of disruption threatening human lives.

Asserting that none will be allowed to create disturbances in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor said: “We must join our efforts to demolish the terror activities and motivated propaganda being conducted from across the border”.
Making a special reference for the youth, he said society especially the youth should work actively to isolate organizations and individuals giving shelter and support to the enemy of humanity.
“We, the people of India, having abiding faith in our country’s tradition of non-violence and tolerance, hereby solemnly affirm to oppose with our strength, all forms of terrorism and violence,” the Anti-Terrorism Pledge read.
It further said: “We pledge to uphold and promote peace, social harmony and understanding among all fellow human beings and fight the force of disruption threatening human lives and values”.
The Lieutenant Governor also paid homage to brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to uphold country’s unity and territorial integrity.
It may be mentioned here that a number of soldiers have sacrificed their lives while fighting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, both in hinterland as well as borders with Pakistan.
The Anti-Terrorism Day is observed to generate awareness in the country among all sections of people about the danger of terrorism and violence and its effect on the people, society and the country as a whole.
The Lieutenant Governor also administered the Anti-Terrorism pledge to the senior Government officials, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar to mark the observance of Anti-Terrorism Day.
Manoj Sinha’s strong remarks against the militants in the Anti-Terrorism Pledge on the occasion of Anti-Terrorism Day came close on the heels of targeted killings in the Kashmir Valley and the Government’s resolve to restore complete peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha has already stated that the Government doesn’t believe in buying peace but establishing peace and that entire ecosystem of terror will be dismantled.
Following targeted killings, Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces have eliminated a number of militants including top commanders and busted several modules of the militants.
Most of the militants involved in the targeted killings have been killed.
