SRINAGAR, Aug 27: Normal work was paralyzed in the Forest Department as the employees including top rung officers observed strike on the first day of the two day strike that is being out by them in support of their demands.
Since morning scores of the Forest department employees, daily wagers and seasonal casual labourers assembled at the Forest complex, Sheikh Bagh here and raised protest against the higher authorities while alleging indifference from them vis-à-vis their demands. The protesting employees said that their demands have fallen on deaf ears and the higher authorities are unmoved about their demands.
The protesting employees demanded that the services of seasonal and casual labourers should not be disbanded and their services should be utilized in other activities of the department. They also demanded regularization of the daily wagers and promotion of the helpers. The employees demanded up-gradation of the posts through corresponding reduction among ministerial staff pending for the last 30 years.
“The Government should immediately implement its order 115 dated March 13, 2012. The transfer orders of Farooq Ahmad Khan, Pritam Lal and Khursheed Gul should be immediately withdrawn. The Government is showing a callous attitude towards our demands and this has created panic among the ranks of the employees,” said Abdul Rashid Dar, President, Forest Employees Federation.
Dar warned that the employees would intensify agitation and come on roads if their demands are not met immediately by the Government.
