JAMMU, Mar 2: During the ongoing workshop series by North Polytechnic, NIIT conducted a workshop on “Windows 8 and Networking”, in which students of Computer, IT and Electronics and Communication, Engineering Department took part.
On the occasion, Naveen Sharma, Center Head, NIIT and Rakesh Kumar, Associate Faculty, NIIT, CCNA, Microsoft and Comptia certified were the resource persons, who gave detailed demonstration about Window 8’s new features especially touch features and Window 8 applications.
They also apprised students about different careers options available in networking, hardware, software and database administration in IT industry.
Later, industrial visits were also conducted for the Civil Engineering and Architecture Assistant Department in which students accompanied by Prof Gurbachan Singh, Nitin Sharma and Manju Baloria visited M/s Sharda Brick Kiln, where students were taken to raw brick moulding area to apprise them about the composition and different types of moulding techniques. Then the students were also taken to the main kiln area, where the stacking of raw bricks, ignition process and removal techniques were explained to the students.
Students also visited M/s Mehar Cement Plant, where Mohd Sofi explained the steps and procedures followed right from lime stone crushing to final disposal of cements.
The students were explained the phenomenon of burning the mixture in a rotary kiln and subsequent crushing and mixing of gypsum before packing in bags.
