North zone college teachers hold meet

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: A general body meeting of College Teachers Association (CTA) of northern colleges was held at Govt Degree College Sopore which was attended by the counsellors representing various degree colleges of the zone. A statement of the body said various issues facing these teachers were highlighted in the meeting, particularly new career advancement scheme issued by UGC, placement of selection grade lecturers  in pay band IV,  placement of assistant professors in higher grade whose records were gutted, implementation of SRO 222, enhancement of age of superannuation as per UGC guidelines, selection of principals as per latest UGC guidelines, deputation of college teachers as Chairman, Secretary and Joint Secretary Board of School Education, pending examination bills in the Kashmir University, implications of single paper scheme in colleges.
President of association, Prof Tariq Ashai highlighted the achievement of the association and told the participants to strengthen the roots of the association to get their issues resolved.
Prof Mir Mushooq, general secretary CTA assured the members that CTA will continue its efforts for the resolution of various issues.
