JAMMU, Dec 15: Khadi and Village Industries Commission Northern India president Desraj Gautam on the concluding day of his three day tour today visited Khadi and Village Industries Centre Samba.
He was accompanied by Director of KVIC J&K, R S Sagar. He inspected the work of Namda -Gabba at first instance and later inspected the unit of Kashmiri handicrafts. He advisted the workers and management to improve the working.
He also inspected the beekeeping cluster. On this occasion a large number of people linked to the bee keeping were present. He also distributed the certificates among the ladies who were given training in stitching and embroidery works.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Gautam said that bee keeping is such a trade, which on less investment can fetch a good profit. This trade can be continued along with agriculture and other agriculture related trades.
He said boosting this trade will improve the village economy. He said the honey is linked to our health and culture and this is the reason that honey from J&K as well as other states is used in foreign countries also. This has enhanced the production of honey in the state and the bee keepers are earning a good profit, he added.
The gathering was addressed by Mr Sagar also. The Khadi Commission officers Anil Sharma, Satish Bhat and Khadi Gram Udyog Seva Sansthan secretary, Rajesh Bakshi and Vikrant besides Jammu Samba KVIC office bearers Subash Chander, Mr Puri, Mohan Lal, Dr Saharma and chairman Gram Udyog Bishnah Ashok Dikshit were present.
