JAMMU, Mar 12: Former SSP and social worker Bhupinder Singh today asked the voters to look for None of the Above (NOTA) option while casting votes during the forthcoming Parliament elections.
Interacting with people at R S Pura, Mr Singh said that if the voters feel that none of the candidates is worth for representing them in the Parliament they need not to quit the voting as for the first time Election Commission of India has made NOTA option available to the voters.
“This option will reduce the alienation of voters, who usually don’t come to vote as they are not satisfied with the candidates. They can now send a strong message to the political parties to field better candidates by pressing NOTA button on the EVM”, he said.
He said that NOTA option will force the political parties to maintain their image all through the time and not during the elections only. “This option will give credibility to the election and help developing a better political culture”, he added.
