DODA, Aug 23: In a significant move aimed at preserving public order and safety in District Doda, the District Magistrate, Vishesh Mahajan has issued an order for detention of an individual under J&K Public Safety Act (PSA) 1978 on the basis of dossier prepared by the district police.
The decision comes in response to persistent concerns regarding involvement of that person in a series of unlawful and criminal activities which made him a threat to the peace and tranquillity of the region.
The order, based on a thorough review of a dossier submitted by Senior Superintendent of Police, reveals a disturbing pattern of behaviour of the individual, including his involvement in theft, illegal bovine smuggling and drug peddling. The individual’s activities have not only led to a heightened sense of insecurity among local residents but have also raised communal tensions in Doda.
Despite previous encounters with the law, the individual continued to escalate his involvement in criminal activities, particularly in drug peddling, posing a severe risk to the well-being of the youth and society at large. His consistent engagement in criminal behaviour left the authorities with no choice but to slap PSA on him.
The decision to detain the individual, whose identity remains undisclosed for privacy reasons, was made to safeguard the region from further disturbances and to protect the community from the perils of drug addiction.
