JAMMU, Nov 9: A notorious bovine smuggler was booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Akhnoor area here today, officials said.
They said information was received at Police Station Akhnoor regarding one Hamid Mohammad alias Shootu of Sungal, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu, who was evading his arrests in multiple cases registered at Police Stations Akhnoor, Sunderbani, Khour, Nowshera, and Manjakote.
On this, officials said, a special police team headed by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma, assisted by SHO Akhnoor, Zaheer Mushtaq, raided at the suspected place and arrested the notorious criminal.
According to them, a warrant of arrest against the accused under PSA was issued by District Magistrate, Jammu, after receiving the dossier from District Police, Jammu.
Today, the warrant was executed and the accused was sent to Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
