Notorious bovines smuggler arrested

JAMMU, Apr 5: Akhnoor Police arrested a notorious bovines’ smuggler.
As per police sources, during the intervening night of April 3 and 4, a report was received that some bovine smugglers in a Mahindra Pick-up were moving around suspiciously and also attempting to lift stray bovines.
However, SPO Milkhi Ram of Police Station Akhnoor who was on patrolling duty immediately swung into action and stopped the culprits from taking bovines. The accused persons attacked and injured the cop.
Later, on seeing the flying squad arriving, the accused persons fled away from the spot along with Mahindra Pick-up. The bovines, which the accused persons were trying to smuggle, were rescued by the injured SPO along with personnel of flying squad.
In this regard, a case FIR Number 281/2021 under Sections 332 and 147 IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, the Mahindra Pick-up bearing registration number JK20A-1006 was traced out and seized accordingly. One accused person namely Hamid Mohd alias Chotu, son of Husain Mohammad of village Truta Phalla, Sungal Akhnoor was arrested for his involvement in the said case.
During further investigation, the said vehicle was found involved in four cases of bovines smuggling and said accused was also found involved in two cases in the past.
The efforts are on to arrest other accused persons who were involved in said case besides history sheet of the arrested accused is also being opened.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Hilal Azhar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
