JAMMU, Mar 3: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Meghdoot’ worked out a theft case within 24 hours with the arrest of notorious burglar and recovery of stolen gold items worth Rs 4.50 lakh.
As per police sources, a written complaint was lodged by a lady namely Usha Rani, wife of Shrimoni Sharma, a resident of Jaalu Chak today with police station Gangyal stating that some unidentified persons barged into her house and decamped with gold weighing 15 tolas after breaking the locks of her house, when she along with her family members had gone to attend a function her relatives.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 18/16 under Section 454 and 380 was registered at police station Gangyal and hunt was launched to nab the thieves.
During the course of investigation, the police team detained a suspect, who during questioning broke down and confessed to commit the theft.
The accused has been identified as Tushar Sharma, son of Kamal Sharma, a resident of Shiv Nagar Kunjwani.
On his disclosure, the stolen gold items were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and assisted by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
