Notorious criminal apprehended with pistol, live cartridges, magazines

JAMMU, Mar 20: Gandhi Nagar police foiled a murder plot with the arrest of a notorious criminal and recovery of pistol, live cartridges and magazines from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka near Ashok Nagar and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered one country pistol, 5 live cartridges and two magazines from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Ashwani Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Langdyali, Tehsil RS Pura. He was on its way to eliminate his rival, but police foiled his bid by arresting him.
A case under FIR Number 64/18 under Section 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
It is to mention that, the accused was also arrested by Satwari Police along with country made pistol and 5 live rounds. A case 179/17 under Section 3/25 Arms Act stands registered against him at Police Station Satwari and challan of the said case already stands produced in the court of law.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by Incharge Nehru Market Police Post SI Jai Paul Singh foiled the murder bid and arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
