JAMMU, Apr 18: Gandhi Nagar police today arrested a notorious criminal with a country made pistol and a live cartridge.
“A police party from police station Gandhi Nagar during routine patrolling/checking duty in its jurisdiction when reached at Ashok Nagar, Satwari, intercepted one pedestrian who on seeing the police party tried to escape in suspicious circumstances but was chased and caught by the police party,” a police official said.
He said that during questioning, the pedestrian disclosed his name as Tejinder Singh alias Happy son of Mohinder Singh, resident of Ward No 4, Simbal Camp (Jammu) and on his checking, one country made pistol along with one live cartridge was recovered from his possession.
“In this connection, a case FIR No 101/2019 under Section 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and further investigations started,” the official said, adding, the arrested accused is a hardcore criminal who is involved in a number of cases of attempt to murder and keeping/possession of illegal arms etc.
The arrest and recovery was made by the police team headed by SHO, police station Gandhi Nagar, Sunil Jasrotia.
