JAMMU, June 27: A notorious criminal was booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in RS Pura area here.
A police official said that Sunil Kumar alias Gokul of Chak Aslam, Tehsil RS Pura was booked under PSA and lodged in jail.
The action against the accused was taken for his continuous involvement in criminal activities in an organised manner, posing threat to the peace and order of the region, he said.
The accused didn’t mend his behaviour, criminal activities and inspite of being booked under multiple FIRs he continued his criminal activities which were likely to disturb the public order particularly in RS Pura and adjacent areas of Jammu District, the police official further said.
“Keeping in view the activities of accused amounting to propagating the criminal activities, he was ordered to be detained Under Section 8 (1) (a) of J&K Public Safety Act (PSA) 1978 vide District Magistrate Jammu’s order No 22/2024 dated May 6, 2024 and has been lodged in Jail,” he added.
