Notorious criminal detained under PSA

RAJOURI, Oct 5: The District authorities today detained a notorious criminal under Public Safety Act.
The police identified the accused as Abdul Rashid, son of Lal Din, resident of Pargal village in Darhal. The authorities detained him for his repeated involvement in criminal activities while there were strong apprehensions that he can create disturbance in upcoming Panchayat elections. He is said to be a ‘history sheeter’ of Darhal Police Station since 1999.
Criminal remained involved in a number of criminal activities in Darhal tehsil area and was becoming a major threat for people of the area.
The cases which stand registered against him include FIR 68/1990, 04/1994, 81/1998, 11/2005, 82/2005, 88/2007, 79/2008, 129/2008, 47/2009, 148/2010, 52/2016, 18/2018.
These cases include that of theft/ burglary, assault, kidnapping, rape, damage to properties as well as drugs trafficking while he also stands booked in a case of militancy act.
Among these, he was booked in case 18/2018 U/S 8/15/20 NDPS Act which was registered on 02-04-2018 when a man from Pargal was arrested along with some drugs from his shop but during course of investigation it came to fore that the criminal booked under PSA placed drugs in the shop of arrested man to settle some personal scores with him. During investigation it came to fore that criminal, who has been booked under PSA, peddles intoxicant and drugs in the area after which he was arrested.
He was booked in a case 148/2010 U/S 458, 323, 342, 366, 147, 148 RPC that was registered after he along with some more men kidnapped a girl only one day before her marriage.
Keeping in view the repeated involvement of said man in criminal activities, SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas submitted a PSA dossier to District Magistrate Rajouri, who issued detention orders.
Police party headed by SHO Darhal Habib Pathan executed the PSA detention order and criminal has been lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal.
