JAMMU, June 14: Police arrested a notorious criminal along with sharp edged weapon ‘khokri’ from Gorkha Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bagh-e-Bahu police station.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police party from Bagh-e-Bahu police station laid a naka near Gorkha Nagar and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under mysterious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered sharp edged weapon ‘khokri’ and arrested the criminal, who has been identified as Manto Sotra (32), alias Chotu, son of Majeet Sotra, a resident of Gorkha Nagar. The arrested accused happens to be the real brother of notorious criminal Rohan Thappa alias Kallu.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the accused was also involved in various cases registered with Bagh-e-Bahu police station.
A case under FIR number 35/14 under Section 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu police station and further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team headed by SHO Bagh-e-Bahu police station SI Sunil Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Rafiq Manhas, SP South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Atul Goel.
