JAMMU, Feb 19: Belicharana police arrested three persons including a notorious criminal.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Belicharana police post laid a naka near Bikram Chowk and arrested a notorious criminal and his wife.
The criminal has been identified as Major Singh alias Lucky Manhas, son of Bansi Lal, a resident of Belicharana. His wife has been identified as Babli Devi.
Major Singh was wanted in a case registered under FIR Number 187/15 under Section 354, 341, 504 and 506 RPC and was absconding since long.
His wife was involved in a case registered under FIR Number 4/16 under Section 382, 353, 224, 225, 147, 148 and 34 RPC. A lady, who was also involved in the same case namely Anty Kotwal, wife of TK Banerjee was also arrested by the police from Satwari. Some more accused are still absconding in this case.
It is pertinent to mention here that on January 7, when a team from Belicharana police post arrested Major Singh and when the team was brining him to police station, mob including ladies attacked the police party and the accused managed to escape from the spot. In the incident, wrist watch of constable Anil Kumar also got snatched by someone in the mob.
Police team led by Incharge Belicharana Police Post SI Ranjeet Singh Rao made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh, SDPO South Sachin Gupta, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
