JAMMU, Dec 4: Continuing its fight against the menace of drugs, Poonch police achieved a success when it apprehended one notorious drug- peddler and recovered 5.24 gms of heroin (Chitta) from his possession.
Reports said that a police party from Poonch laid a Naka near Haakia Academy for the checking of vehicles. A white Maruti car bearing registration No. JK02AX-3068, coming from Academy side was stopped for checking. During checking, one person who was driving the car started behaving suspiciously which created suspicion in the minds of police party.
On checking, 5. 24 gms of heroin was recovered from his possession. He was identified as Aayat Raza, son of Iftkhar Hussain, resident of village Loyal Bala, Tehsil Mandi, at present Ward No 4, Poonch. The peddler was arrested on the spot and vehicle seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 209/2023 U/S 8/21/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Poonch.
