Notorious drug peddler arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Feb 1: Satwari police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team from Satwari Police Station led by SHO Inspector Gurmeet Singh and Chatha Police Post headed by SI Rakesh Roshan laid a trap and intercepted a man, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 10.5 grams heroin from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Surinder Singh alias Shantu, son of late Ranjit Singh of Lower Gadigarh, District Jammu.
The accused was a notorious drugs peddler for the last 4 years and was also involved in cases registered under FIR Numbers 40/2000, 179/2016, 235/2016 and 228/2017 with Police Station Satwari, FIR Numbers 193/2006 and 278/2016 with Police Station Gandhi Nagar, FIR Number 164/2010 with Police Station Channi Himmat and FIR Number 33/2013 with Police Station Janipur.
A fresh case under FIR Number 24/2020 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation initiated.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Ram Singh and SP South Vinay Sharma.
