JAMMU, Mar 24: A notorious drug peddler was booked under the stringent PIT-NDPS Act here at Nowabad Police Station today.
Abdul Hamid (34) alias Medhu of Dalwas, Chanderkote, Ramban, at present Javed Nagar, Nikki Tawi, Jammu was booked under the PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and later lodged in District Jail Rajouri, a police official said.
According to him, multiple FIRs have been registered against the accused at different police stations of the district for his involvement in different crimes, he said.
The police official said despite his arrest in multiple cases, the accused didn’t mend his activities and continued to promote the drug trade by supplying drugs to the local youth, aiming for monetary gains through illegal and wrongful means.
The accused always remained successful in securing bail from the courts, he said, adding that in order to restrain them from further indulging in criminal activities, a dossier under the stringent PIT NDPS Act was recommended against him.
Upon satisfaction with the dossier, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu issued a PIT-NDPS warrant against the accused, which got executed today with his arrest by a team of Police Station Nowabad, added the police official.
