KATHUA, Jan 31: District police, Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today apprehended an infamous interstate narcotics smuggler Rupesh Kumar alias Bobby son of Kapoor Chand of village Dida PS Dinanagar tehsil & district Gurdaspur at present Chack Drab Khan Kathua.
Police said a police team led by Inspector, O. P. Chib SHO Police Station (PS), Kathua under the supervision of DySP, Headquarter Kathua, arrested the drug peddler. He was evading arrest for over six months and a detention warrant under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act- 1988 was issued against him by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. In order to prevent the illegal activities in drug trafficking, a dossier was prepared against him and sent to Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for his detention under PITNDPS Act- 1988 (PSA). Accordingly Divisional Commissioner, Jammu issued a detention warrant against him under PITNDPS Act and warrant has been executed today and he was lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal Jammu to curtail his activities in drug peddling.
Moreover, during the year-2021, four more drug peddlers and criminals were also booked under PSA by Kathua Police so that future of the youth of the district could be saved from the clutches of drug peddlers.
