UDHAMPUR, Apr 4: One more notorious drug peddler has been booked under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act for his repeated involvement in selling and distributing contraband narcotics among the populace of Udhampur and its adjoining areas.
According to the Police, the accused namely Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed of Dhanori, Udhampur often tried to involve youth of the area in drug addiction.
On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur Joginder Singh, dossier of Mushtaq Ahmed was prepared and sent for approval. Subsequently, the case was duly processed and after obtaining sanction from the competent authority, the said drug peddler has been detained under PIT NDPS Act through orders issued by the competent authority.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police apprehended one absconder, who was evading arrest since June 2023. Police team of PP Tikri raided the suspected locations and arrested the absconder namely Jamat Ali, son of Mohd Hussain of R S Pura, Jammu, who was involved in case FIR No. 80/2020 U/S 188 of Police Station Rehambal.
