Notorious drug supplier among five held with heroin, cash in Samba

SAMBA, Jan 24: A notorious drug supplier and four people who aided him in his business were arrested from this town along with heroin worth Rs 28000, cash amounting to Rs 2, 44, 000, and sharp-edged weapons, police said.
They said Farman Ali alias Munna of Balole Khad, Bari Brahamana, is a wanted drug peddler as several cases have been registered against him while as four other criminals who were arrested have been identified as Shubham alias Shubhi, Sukhchain Singh alias Bobby, Bablu alias Rocky, and Mohit Sharma, all residents of Amritsar, Punjab.
Acting on a tip off, a police team conducted a raid and arrested Farman Ali for transferring a huge amount of Rs 4.5 lakh to a Punjab-based drug smuggler in lieu of heroin, police said.
They said, cash amounting to Rs 1, 29, 00 and heroin worth Rs 28000 was also recovered from the possession of the drug supplier.
He has been booked in case FIR number 6/2024 Under Sections 8/21/22/27-A/29 of the NDPS Act registred at Polie Station Bari Brahamana and further investigation taken up, police said.
Ali was operating from Balole Khad in Jammu and Kashmir and supplied heroin to small drug peddlers.
Meanwhile, four Punjab-based criminals, who aided heroin supplier Ali, were arrested from Samba with sharp-edged weapons and cash worth Rs 1.15 lakh. They have been separately booked in case FIR number 26/2024 Under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act registered at Police Station Samba and further investigation taken up.
