Notorious drugs smuggler nabbed with Pak smuggled heroin, Rs 50000 cash

JAMMU, Sept 4: Continuing its drive to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Gangyal Police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ smashed cross LoC drugs trafficking racket with the arrest of a notorious narcotics smuggler along with 15 grams Pakistan smuggled heroin valuing Rs 6 lakh in the international market and Rs 50,000 cash.
As per police sources, on reliable information about pumping of drugs from Srinagar to Jammu, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian escaped from the spot and entered into a by lane. Stinking something fishy, the cops intercepted the pedestrian after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 15 grams Pakistan smuggled heroin valuing Rs 6 lakh in the international market and Rs 50,000 cash from the possession of pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Amit Thapa, son of Sham Lal, a resident of RS Pura, at present residing in Dashmesh Nagar near Digiana.
During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Kashmir, which was pumped in from Pakistan side for selling among the youth in District Jammu and its adjoining areas and districts. The accused was also involved in NDPS Act case registered with Miran Sahib Police Station and was a notorious drugs peddler.
It is also assumed that Rs 50,000 cash recovered from the possession of the drug peddler has been gained by selling the narcotics.
With his arrest, police not only smashed the drug trafficking racket operating from cross LoC, but also saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 78/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gangyal Police Station and investigation started to arrest other members of the racket.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
