RAJOURI, Dec 20: In a significant breakthrough, Rajouri Police, arrested a notorious fraudster involved in multiple ATM fraud cases.
The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of SDPO Thannamandi, Parupkar Singh and was led by SHO Thannamandi, Inspector Hilal Azhar, reflecting the exemplary coordination and efficiency of the district police force.
The accused, identified as Javed Iqbal Tass, son of Mohd Ashraf, a resident of Bhanghai, Tehsil Thannamandi, had been deceiving innocent citizens by swapping their ATM cards under the guise of helping them with transactions. His fraudulent activities came to light after two victims reported substantial monetary losses.
In one instance, the accused duped Tahira Parveen, wife of Mohd Alyas, a resident of Saaj, Thannamandi, by withdrawing Rs 17,000 from her account after swapping her ATM card. This led to the registration of FIR No. 146/2024 at Police Station Thannamandi.
In another case, he targeted Nazir Hussain, son of Wazir Hussain, a resident of Danna Husplote, Thannamandi, fraudulently withdrawing Rs 16,400 from his account, which resulted in filing of FIR No. 109/2024.
During his interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in these and some other fraudulent activities. Police recovered 11 ATM cards belonging to various victims from his possession.
Further investigation has revealed that Javed Tass had also carried out similar frauds in other districts, indicating his involvement in an extensive network of deceitful activities.
The police are now working to uncover additional cases linked to the accused and to identify other potential victims. Legal proceedings are underway to ensure that justice is served and the accused is held accountable for his actions.
