Notorious narco smuggler among 9 arrested with huge quantity of contraband

RAMBAN, Feb 13: Bishnah, Gangyal, Panjtirthi and Banihal police arrested nine drug peddlers including a notorious narcotics smuggler and recovered huge quantity of contraband including ganja, poppy straw, cannabis and fukki from their possession.
As per police sources, during patrolling a team from Bishnah Police Station SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by ASI Mohammad Younis noticed suspicious activities of some persons on Bishnah-Miran Sahib road.
On being asked, the persons got fumbled and starting running from the spot. They were overpowered by police party after a brief chase and on checking, 10 kilograms of high grade ganja was recovered from their possession.
The trio persons arrested by the police were identified as Bodh Ram Chandra, son of Ganesh Ram Chandra of Chhattisgarh, Rampal Bhagat alias Ram, son of late Nanak Chand Bhagat of Ward Number 12 Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu and Sumit Kumar Sharma alias Laadi alias Pandit, son of Ashok Kumar of Village Nougran (Kullah Basti) Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bodh Ram was a narcotic drug supplier and used to bring consignment from outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for further distribution among local customers.
Police team made the arrest under the supervision of Incharge SDPO RS Pura Iftikhar Choudhary, SP Headquarters Jammu Raja Adil Ganai and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
Meanwhile, a joint team of Police Station Gangyal and Police Post Greater Kailash laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AL-3481.
During checking, police team recovered 50 grams heroin valuing Rs 2 lakh from the possession of driver and his associate and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Ajmer Singh, son of Gurbachan Singh, a resident of Preet Nagar, District Jammu and Sukhwinder Singh, son of Balwant Singh, a resident of Singhpura, Maralian, Miran Sahib District Jammu.
The arrest was made by SHO Gangyal Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by Incharge Police Post Greater Kailash SI Rohit Gandhi under the supervision of SDPO South Ram Singh and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
In another similar case, a team from Panjtirthi Police Post led by SI Vinod Kumar during checking intercepted Innova car bearing registration number JK02AT-0615, which was on way from Srinagar towards Jammu.
During frisking, police team recovered 640 grams cannabis from the possession of the driver and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Imran Shah, son of Badar Shah of Phalni Somote Tehsil Budhal, District Rajouri.
However, a team from Banihal Police Station arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 90 kilograms poppy straw, 90 grams cannabis and 50 kilograms of fukki from their possession.
The arrested persons were identified as Suroop Singh of Mandi Tehsil Gorusai District Ferozpur, Muzafar Ahmed Gujjar, son of Nazir Ahmed Gujjar, a resident of Guthtal Doligam and Bilbeer Singh, son of Chowra Ram, a resident of Thana Tehsil Nagpur Punjab.
Police team also seized two trucks bearing registration number RS07GB-9598 and HP71-4052.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Bukhari made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
Cases under relevant sections have registered at Bishnah, Gangyal, Pacca Danga and Banihal Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignments and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
