KISHTWAR, Sept 22: Police here today arrested a narcotic smuggler from Bus Stand area and recovered cannabis-like substance from him.
Under the guidance of SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal, a special team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, assisted by PSI Vivek Daliya set up a checkpoint at the Bus Stand area wherein during checking of vehicles and pedestrians, police noticed suspicious behaviour of an individual who attempted to evade checking.
The cops apprehended him and upon his checking found cannabis-like substance. He was arrested and identified as Haqnawaz Giri, son of Ghulam Hussan Giri, resident of Pochhal, Kishtwar.
In connection a case in FIR No. 221/2023 under Sec. 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation started.
