Notorious narco-smuggler lands in police net with intoxicants

JAMMU, Sept 20: Janipur police arrested notorious narcotic smuggler along with large quantity of intoxicants, which he had brought from Pathankote to sell among the youth in Jammu so as to make them drug addict.
This was stated by SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chauhan during a press conference at Janipur police station this morning.
He informed that during the intervening night of September 19 and 20, police team from Janipur police station during patrolling in Roop Nagar area asked a pedestrian to stop for checking on suspicious grounds.
SP stated that the accused tried to flee, but the cops chased and nabbed him near some distance.
“During checking, police recovered 1200 intoxicant capsules from the possession of the person and arrested him on the spot”, Mr Chauhan said, adding that the accused have been identified as Ajay Sharma, son of Darshan Lal Sharma, a resident of Roop Nagar.
He informed that the accused had brought the consignment of narcotics from Pathankote to sell the same among the youth of Jammu so as to make them drug addict.
Mr Chauhan further stated that the accused was also arrested few years back with narcotics and is notorious smuggler of intoxicants.
“With the arrest of the accused, the Janipur police has foiled the attempt of the person to make the youth drug addict”, he said.
SP appealed to the youth to stay away from the drugs as these not only damage their body, but also bring bad name to their family in the society.
A case under FIR Number 171/15 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Janipur police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Janipur police station Inspector Ajit Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Vivek Shekhar, SP City North Shiv Kumar Singh Chauhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
