Notorious narcotic smuggler held under PIT NDPSA

KISHTWAR, Sept 10: Police here today apprehended a notorious narcotic smuggler and booking him under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPSA) and put him in District Jail Kishtwar.
Giving details in this regard, SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal said that extensive involvement of the smuggler in narcotic trade and criminal activities and to protect the youth from falling prey of addiction, it became necessary to slap the stringent PIT NDPSA on the smuggler, Mohd Iqbal Khanday, son of Bashir Ahmed Khanday, resident of Keshwan, Kishtwar.
“Investigations into previous incidents and intelligence inputs on narcotics activities revealed his involvement in multiple narcotics smuggling cases. His financial transactions have been unearthed and accounts frozen,” the SSP said.
A handout of police stated that following issuance of PIT NDPSA orders by the relevant authorities, the narcotic smuggler was apprehended today and put in District Jail Kishtwar.
SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal, further emphasized that Kishtwar Police is committed to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from the area.
