Notorious thief, two narcotic smugglers arrested

JAMMU, Apr 18: Gangyal police arrested a notorious thief and two narcotic smugglers.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Management Committee of Shiv Temple stating that somebody has stolen the donation box of the temple.
Accordingly a case under FIR Number 49/16 under Section 380 and 457 RPC was registerd at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, various suspected persons were rounded up and out of them one of the suspects broke down and confessed to commit the theft in the temple.
The thief has been identified as Sodi Lal, son of Malkeet Singh, a resident of Mrakhrie Mohalla, Gangyal.
On his disclosure, the stolen donation box along with cash has been recovered.
It is to mention that the accused is a professional thief and was wanted in various police stations including Satwari and Gandhi Nagar.
Further questioning of the accused is going on.
Meanwhile, a team from Gangyal police station laid a naka and intercepted two persons for checking as they were moving under suspicious circumstances.
Police recovered five kilograms poppy straw (bhukki) from the possession of persons and arrested them.
The accused have been identified Yash Pal, son of Dina Nath of Patyari Bishnah and Sunil Raj Puri, son of late Satpal of Ward Number 1, Bishnah.
A case under FIR Number 50/16 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the narcotic smugglers at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
