JAMMU, Dec 19: In a novel step, the students of Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) visited the villages surrounding their institution to educate them about the benefits of energy conservation.
The students under the guidance of their Principal Dr Sameru Sharma visited Chak, Chak Bhalwal, Seri Pandita and Marjali villages besides the schools in these areas to educate the inhabitants as well as students about the benefits of energy conservation.
They educated them about the judicious use of electricity by way of making use of CFL and keeping the lights off during the day hours, which otherwise is a habit among the inhabitants of the rural areas.
The students, as a part of Energy Conservation Week, apprised the villagers about the overall impact of energy conservation on the economic condition of Jammu and Kashmir, which is spending crores of rupees to purchase power without much revenue.
