NOWSHERA, Aug 20: A large number of people from several villages assembled at Gujral Chowk here and held protest demonstration against PHE and PDD authorities for failure of water and electricity supply.
The people from Manpur, Bajnoa, Breri and several adjoining hamlets reached Nowshera and sat on dharna on Nowshera-Janggar road. They disrupted movement of traffic for about one and half hour. The villagers alleged that water and power supply to these villages has been affected for the last more than two weeks and the concerned officials are least bothered about the plight of the public. They shouted slogans against Omar Government, concerned ministers and the top officers.
Later, SDM and ASP Nowshera rushed there. They summoned the concerned PDD and PHE officials concerned on the spot. Later, on the assurance of restoration of water and power within two days, the villagers lifted dharna.
A large number of vehicles remained stranded on the road.
