JAMMU, Nov 8: Agitated over the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure to fulfill the aspirations of Jammu Pradesh during his Kashmir address on November 7, several Panthers Party leaders spearheaded by Rajesh Padgotra, provincial president of NPP held a protest demonstration outside the BJP’s office at Kachi Chowni here today.
The NPP activists held strong protest against BJP and raised loud slogans against the Prime Minister Modi. Mr Padgotra while speaking on the occasion said that Mr Modi failed to address the most sensitive issue of Article 370 which had deprived the State of holistic development and progress besides fulfilling the political promise doled out to the people of Jammu region on the subject of delimitation of Assembly constituencies.
He maintained that Jammu province had 37 Assembly seats whereas Kashmir Valley 46 Assembly seats despite former having a larger area than the latter. He added that the delimitation process would have liberated the people of Jammu Pradesh from all kinds of socio -political discrimination faced by them since decades.
NPP leader revealed that the Prime Minister had failed to announce conferment of State Subject Rights and compensation package for nearly one lakh West Pak Refugees of 1947 who had been left in lurch by the successive Central and State Governments. He maintained that PM by ignoring the relief and compensation package for 2200 families of Talwara migrants (Jammu migrants) at par with Kashmiri migrants had further pushed them to starvation. Mr Padgotra revealed that PM paid no heed to the miseries of farmers and border dwellers of Jammu Pradesh and failed to announce relief and compensation package for them in Kashmir.
He further added that Mr Modi grossly ignored the interests of Jammu region in the sphere of tourism, employment, distribution of funds, power sector etc.
Others who led the protest included Bansi Lal, Jagdev Singh, Rakesh Gupta, Shanker Singh Chib, Gagan Pratap etc.
